ЁЯзм 2. Types of Cells (Prokaryotic vs Eukaryotic)

Cells are broadly classified into two categories based on the organization of their nucleus:

Prokaryotic Cells

Size: Generally small ($1 - 10 \mu m$).

Nucleus: Poorly defined (nuclear membrane is absent). Known as Nucleoid.

Organelles: Membrane-bound organelles are absent.

Example: Bacteria, Blue-green algae.

Eukaryotic Cells

Size: Generally large ($5 - 100 \mu m$).

Nucleus: Well-defined and surrounded by a nuclear membrane.

Organelles: Membrane-bound organelles (Mitochondria, Golgi) are present.

Example: Plant cells, Animal cells, Fungi.

ЁЯФм 3. Important Cell Organelles

 • Plasma Membrane: The selectively permeable outer boundary of the cell.
 • Mitochondria: Known as the Powerhouse of the Cell. It generates ATP (Energy).
 • Lysosomes: Known as the Suicide Bags because they contain powerful digestive enzymes.
